Colors

Colors

A Poem by Noemi

Every time he meets someone, he gives his heart away.

As they take their piece away, things slowly fade to grey.

He met his friend and, in the end, in the mirror when he looked,

his eyes had turned from an ocean blue to a muddy, greyish gunk.

As the years go by there are less and less colors he can see,

and in time he forgets what the colors used to be.

But though colors he can no longer see, his smile never faulted,

because his heart had colored those he loved,

   their lives he had exalted.

Holy smokes i just happened upon this by accident and boom what a set of lines. This is a piece of poetic perfection I especially enjoy the dark contrasts to the bright gut punch beauty ending! the fact that in so few lines you crafted so much is a gift and i just got to unwrap it:) and what a lovely surprise I found in the box!!!! I'm a rhyme and rhythm junkie and what a great fix will look forward to reading more of you.
