Smolder

Smolder

A Poem by chocolate_addict
"

I am holding this death dance of smoke between my fingers...

"

The poison lives

only as it burns to death,

the smoke rising,

Untouchable.

The slender packet is dormant inside

until you hold the fire against it,

until it catches the flame

and brings it into itself.

Calling its tiny life

and its slow death.

I am holding this death dance

of smoke between my fingers,

Breathing its message,

Its moment.

For a while it is beautifully alive,

but when it’s gone

Cold and lifeless

Your senses are chilled

for a moment.

Everything is quiet

As it was before,

but the presence

of the fire and the poison

is absent.

Take another from the box,

And watch it again,

Live it again,

Kill it again.

The feel of the cigarette

Something smoldering

Slowly between my fingers.

I Really like it. It actually kind of makes you see a cigarette from a smokers point of view
