Chapter 1

Chapter 1

A Chapter by Hayley
"

The first entry of my new book series 'Famous'.

"

The spotlights swirled around me, swathing me in bright light. I was wearing a red cocktail dress. It exposed my legs too much, it wasn’t me. But anyway, that was only one thing. My raven black hair was swept into an elegant bun, my normal side-swept bangs just covering my right eyebrow. My makeup included extremely light blue eyeshadow almost transparent. The blush swept across my cheeks was an elegant red just like my lips. I was on the runway.

Millions of people crowded the stadium all talking energetically, commenting on my strut and expertly good looks. But I didn’t want to be there…

I wasn’t a runway girl really, I was a country girl and I was going to stay that way, no matter how many times I had to strut along wearing way too short dresses and heavy makeup I would always be a country girl. And that caught me right there. I had to stop.

When it was time to depart the stages bright lights I hurried away down the red carpet, eager to escape the load of chattering people, whose vibrant voices were fading rapidly away within every step I took toward the glowing exit door.

My stride eventually turned into a determined race for the door.

“Hey there!”

A man in a tight suit with shiny black shoes stepped in front of me, blocking the exit. I sighed in defeat.

“And what do you think you might be doing?” he questioned in a sharp tone.

“Hey, slick. Don’t talk like that. I’m just trying to escape this hell hole, that okay with you?” I snapped icily trying to budge my way through.

“I don’t let any supermodel through these doors without cash. Now hand it over, missy.”

“Excuse me?” I uttered, astonished.

“I said I wanted cash. Is that too hard for your measly brain to understand?”

I sighed in annoyance, “How much?”

“2 hundred dollars will do me just fine.”

I nearly choked.

“200 dollars!?” I shrieked.

Not waiting for an answer I let my black stilettos carry me to the emergency exit which I really should have used before. An easy escape.

Just as I slipped through the door into the icy cool breeze a hand grabbed my shoulder, spinning me around.

“Where are you going?”

I groaned. It was my ex-boyfriend Charles, unfortunately he was still chasing after me.

“Listen, Charles. I don’t want your crap today, okay?” I tried to squirm out of his enclosed hands which were now wrapped tightly around my waist, holding me there.

“No, you’re not leaving until I hear an apology.”

“For what?!” I cried.

“You know perfectly well what I mean, Marie.”

“Let go of me!” I cried again bashing against his enclosed hands. It was no use.

Then I turned around to face him, his arms still wrapped tightly around me.

“Fine, I’m sorry… for nothing!” I yelled kneeing him in the gut. Easy weak point.

He immediately loosened his grip on my waist shrieking in pain.

“Bye, Charles!” I waved and raced like a madman toward the streetlights.

“Taxi!” I called, my voice as high-pitched as ever.

When one of the speeding bright yellow cabs screeched to a stop I threw myself in, eager to finally get away.
