The Hurricane Within

The Hurricane Within

A Poem by Chloe

long, brown, curly, hair;

a pale, round, face;

soft - but chapped -

rosy pink lips;

a symetrical,

curved nose;

eyes the color of

a stormy sea;

and careful, gently,

arching brows...

a pimple above one brow;

red spots dotting the chin;

conceled dark circles

below the eyes;

and a scar - like a moon -

on her cheek.

a face of happiness -

a confident smile -

masking the wild hurricane inside.

maybe of fear,

insecurity,

doubt,

confusion,

guilt,

or perhaps

deep down

lie painful

and unspeakable

secrets or questions,

of change and herself,

friends or family,

with the urge to talk,

but no one to confide in -

just herself -

her thoughts -

constantly feeding the

wild hurricane within.

Who is She?

The girl I see in the mirror?

A phenomenal poem about finding one's sense of self and identity. I really enjoyed this poem's aesthetic presentation as well as the flow of the words. Very good poem, thanks for sharing!
