blue skyA Poem by chiyonatsufor my teacher.
you grew up many miles away,
and have seen many more days. you say that i show promise that i will certainly belong. you seemed so surprised when i presented the sketch to you. a faerie-tale rendition of your hometown written, mostly, in your native language too. though fate, maybe, has brought us together we've never really been apart for standing on separate continents our blue, blue skies have always been the same. you inspired me to do something i never even thought of: go to some far, far away land and teach the youths there so now i'm trying, really striving to learn the language of korea. i never know what to say to you to make you understand you're such a wonderful mentor to me but i'm not who you think i am. you always comment how cheerful i am and i just smile and shrug i really just can't break the news to you that i'm dying on the inside. i'm teetering on the brink of overcoming and succumbing to the depression i've been fighting. i know you're doing the same. at least, i think you're doing the same. i began to talk to you because you looked so sad. if it'll make things easier i'll shut up and just go on and speak not a word of my troubles and chat as the bell drones on. kindred spirits, you and i brought together by fate you came all the way from gwacheon and we're both underneath the same blue sky. © 2012 chiyonatsu |
