tenth poemA Poem by chiyonatsuten out of ten.
Ten poems in a night,
It seems to be my record. Why I feel compeled, tonight, Is of more than I can be sure. Maybe just tonight, it’s right, Maybe there’s a full moon. Whatever the reason, I’m not one to complain. I have three minutes left tonight, Or maybe make that two. Mother just gave me lunch money, Which means it’s time to go. But my night’s not even over, Not even by a shot, There’s so much left to do, Before I can sleep with thought. Straighten my hair, the rat’s nest it is, Do my homework I’ve neglected, Read a little from the textbook For lack of anything better. Now’s it’s ten o’clock, What better time to finish, My tenth poem of the night, a prize itself indeed. Goodnight, reader. © 2012 chiyonatsuAuthor's Note
