This is my first writing. It describes life of a girl living a careless life.

This is the story of a beautiful, smart and silly girl called Riya. I met her during under graduation as we both were studying on the same subject and we became friends. Riya just enjoys her life, no matter whatever the circumstances are, she’s so cool… she never bothered to be sincere with her life too. It’s common that everyone/most of them will have a friend like Riya.

Riya looks simply beautiful. She comes to college well dressed in adorned fabrics and I must say she would look damn stunning every time I meet her. She stays restless until getting good compliments from someone (especially from boys).She has an intention of attracting boys in her college, I believe that is not strange thoughts among girls these days.

There was a boy called Alex. He was very fond of this cute pretty girl. Alex belongs to a poor family background. He's was a very good dancer, singer and athletics. He was known to everyone in college and also established a good rapport with the staff members and friends there. No doubt, smart guys are always popular wherever they go, but I can say he was not a handsome guy(not having a good appearance in my view). But for a girl like Riya more than look/appearance, talent matters the most. Riya was very crazy about Alex(for the reason he was a popular guy). Alex being in our class know us well. Riya never missed a chance to smile/ talk with him. As days passed they became friends....best friends. Riya was very proud for getting a college hero as a best friend.I was certain that this friendship will soon turn to love(as I know Riya wanted that to happen and waiting for the opportune to open her heart to Alex).

Riya used to share all her thoughts, problems with Alex. He really cared her and was very happy to spend time with her. Riya being a happy-go -lucky kind girl never took her studies seriously, but Alex was a well-determined boy who had a goal and was studious. One day Alex proposed Riya, it was her birthday. She was overjoyed as it was something she expected to happen. She couldn't,t resist spreading this news all over the college. Now she has completely lost her control in her studies and always stayed in his thoughts.

One day I asked Riya "Hey Juliet, when are you planning to settle your life with Alex?".

Her reply was,"no idea". (I felt something like she never thought of getting married to Alex)

I also doubted whether her parents being very orthodox will accept this relation(they both belong to different religion and even their family status doesn't match) and she was not at all willing to recount this matter to them. She never had any future plans.

Days and months passed and Riya turned to be the worst performer of the class(Alex and I tried to help her out in studies, though). Her parents were not happy with her academic performance. She turned 22 and her parents finally thought to do her marriage.She was aware of this. She expressed her situation to me and I advised her to tell about her relation with Alex to her family(I know how much Alex loves Riya loves). But Riya denied doing so. I just couldn't read her mind and what she's planning for. Alex on knowing this couldn't resist and he decided to speak with Riya's parents. He was very serious about this matter and wanted her parents to know their relation. He was ready to explain his situation to them and could request interval of two years to marry their daughter(he is a student and wanted some time to settle down). But, Riya didn't allow.

I was speechless when confronted with the change I saw in Riya. She has now started avoiding Alex. She explained that Alex belongs to a very low caste family background and not rich and beautiful as her. I shouted her very badly for being such an idiot loon and playful with her love. I made her understand that the decision taken by her is not fair (for some silly reasons about Alex). Riya didn't bother to understand my words, perhaps, she blamed me for interfering in her private matters.

Riya is super excited to welcome a new guy to her life. Her wedding is fixed and now in relation this guy( the boy who's gonna marry her).

Alex was so depressed and couldn't tolerate seeing such a drastic change in Riya. He disturbed her many times to get the right reason for avoiding him and accepting another proposal. Riya explained that her parents didn't accept their relation. Alex requested her a chance to allow him to meet her parents(so that he could plea ). she avoided saying that her marriage is fixed and so there is no possibility that her parents will understand him. Alex approached me with a pained expression on his face and recounted Riyas matter.I was struck, unable to console him on seeing his dispirited face. I never saw him smiling after that.

Riya looked rejoicing and busy planning her wedding costumes, jewellery ...... Alex is in lovesick and started deviating from his studies and other activities. I couldn't bear to see his sombre face. Alex started performing poorly in academics and also involved in using drugs. I tried advising him to be brave and let go the past and move on but he always stayed quiet and uncommunicative. I could understand the pain that happens when someone cheats. He had a very deep love for Riya, perhaps Riya didn't have any such feelings while dropping the relation. Alex was unable to come out of that pain and completely failed to finish his graduation on time. He was keeping mum about his future plans.

I was unable to help him out instead foreshadowed the happenings in both lives.

Riya also didn't complete her graduation. After college, she got married. Things started changing in an unimagined way in Riya's life. She became a mother to a cute pretty girl after few months. She was really unhappy with her husband. He never cared and loved her like Alex. Riya's husband carried the same attitude that she had.He was a person who's very cool, irresponsible, happy-go-lucky kind attitude. She really struggled and was lacking a peaceful life. She is feeling the emptiness in her life. She then realized the love and care that Alex had on her.

Alex was leading an aimless life and remained with a lot of problems and poverty. He couldn't complete his graduation and get a good job.

I was feeling dejected on knowing the conditions of my dear friends. There are many peoples like Riya who have no concern, love, respect for others and also people like Alex who give too much importance to others. Either 'the fate' nor 'love' can be taken responsible for their present situation besides, Riya is the real culprit here, her silly nature has doomed her's as well as Alex life. People say life is a game!!...yea, its true ... its a game where it is difficult to get a new beginning once you are lost...its a game where the smallest decision can change your whole life....its a game where you are not allowed to play with the rules of someone's else game...its a game made for everyone ..to play, to enjoy... where LOVE, HAPPINESS, RESPECT are the prizes you get if you play right. Many of us ruin theirs and others life without knowing to live with enduring and everlasting dreams.

Today peoples are so selfish with their own life that they don't even have any concern to their neighbors, friends and family too. True love has no value these days. The fact is that nobody understands what love is. They won't understand just because they are selfish with their own life. People run behind material possessions rather than love. I don't understand what the hell pleasure they get doing so. To peoples like Riya, I would like to say ...At least, for once try to live your life by expressing and experiencing true love, care, respect for others....show others how much you value them (irrespective of their material possessions), then for sure, no doubt you will stay happy throughout your life else you will be ending up someone like Riya.

A very beautiful moral story.
your writing style is simple and decent. i like it very much.
The way you have described how Riya was And Alex's character is very nice and vivid. The way you described how she was crazy about Alex that how much Alex was crazy about him is very nice.
The way you brought change in Riya's character or showed her real face is worthy to praise.

Above all, the story is thumbs up. especially this part:
