My friend

My friend

A Poem by chitra dhara

Oh those lustrous eyes that twinkle at me
is it malice you are hiding my friend...

Oh the mischievous smile that beckons me near
are those fangs you are hiding my friend...

Oh the capable long fingers so artful
are those claws you are hiding my friend...

Oh the full toned voice so pleasing to hear
is it a snarl you are hiding my friend...

for I am a doomed ship staying afloat
don't sink me into the ocean depths my friend...

for Ia m a wrecked monument of ruins and rubble
don't raze me into the ground my friend...

Forgive me if I am offending you
for I fear betrayal more than death my friend...

Forgive me if I am being unfair to you
for we will know only in our graves my friend...

You can never tell what people are hiding behind their smiles. We all wear masks and play our part but sometimes your friend and foe are one in the same.Excellent lines my friend :)
