Can't Close My Eyes...3/27/23

I slowly close my eyes and the film begins.

 I see your beautiful smile as the scene begins.

 Your eyes connect with mine

 and my heart begins to race.

 I am watching as the film takes us

 down the road of memory lane.

 The street filled with desire,

 we danced in the rain, sang in the moonlight.

There was a fluorescent sky filled with stars

 as the story begins.

 I know the story line from beginning

 to the final curtain. 

That's when you walk away and the screen

 lights up with "The End"

 I remember how the story changes

 from the ecstasy of new love to the reality

 of how time can tear two hearts apart.

 I have to think about the ending every time

 I want to watch again. 

Afraid to close my eyes at night.
