Heaven's So Far Away...

This is what I'd like to do today if
the Heaven weren't so far away.

Take those people close to me and visit
long lost friends. Introduce them to my grandpa, see my parents once again. I'd get to see old faces that I've missed throughout these years. Remembering all the good times and share a few old tears.

Introduce them to old buddies who never made it back from Nam. Get to see my aunts and uncles and my dear old Pastor John. He'd laugh about the moment I tripped on the altar stairs and speak to me about God's sweet love that all of us can share.

I'd get to see old neighbors who put up with all my games. Apologize to those I hurt, let them know that I'm ashamed. I'd tell them all about my life, the good things that I do. Show them that my heart is now filled up with gratitude.

I'd find all of my high school friends from the long lost past. Look for all the pets I've had who were taken much too fast.

I'd search for Elvis Presley, Lennon and John Denver too. Ask them to sing a song for me, at least one or two. Tap my feet and sing out loud resting on one of Heavens clouds.

That is what I'd like to do today,
but Heaven is so far away.

Hi Chuck,

A very thoughtful poem and one that every reader would relate to. I have my own set of people to meet and make amends with. To share my growth and learning with them. And of course, to apologize to for all my immaturity and pettiness in the past.
