Finally Home...

Finally Home...

A Poem by chuck

Headlights all on, black limo leads the way
Another man is headed to his judgement day
People gather round to hear the preacher pray
Knowing that he's headed to a better place

I know it isn't easy to tell him goodbye
Sadness fills the day with all the tears they cry
Everyone says he was just too young to die
Others question God and ask why, oh why

But I see a new beginning, and I begin to smile
Somehow I know I'll see you on the other side
Life never gives us answers, doesn't tell us why
I only know I'll see you on the other side.

Leaving loved ones behind, they feel so all alone
They don't realize that you are finally home
Smiling while you're walking on streets paved with gold
Eternal life has been given to your very soul

I see the tears and feel their fears
Of the great unknown
So rest in peace, I know at least
You're finally at home...

"And some of us are poets, some dream until they die. Until we're one with the Spirit, we're unsatisfied." from One of the Unsatisfied as recorded by Lacy J. Dalton

It's never easy losing a loved one, a friend, a sibling, a parent...I've attended too many of these functions. I'm determined not to attend any more. I'm being cremated so, not even my own. It's amazing to me though that folks will come and cry over the remains of someone they wouldn't even take the time to visit in life. Strange how that works. I enjoyed your poem. Finally home, I like that.
