Lost Innocence...

Lost Innocence...

A Poem by chuck

When you were small,
just a child at play, you
roamed the beaches on
bright sunny days.

When you were a princess,
the world was your own.
Like royalty you would dance
every place was your home.

You were always happy,
no cares, no fears.
But innocence began to fade
through the years.

You found pain and suffering
in the world around.
So many evils and hatred were
found.
Gone are the days that were
carefree and fun.
Cold realities of life touching
everyone.

The lessons you learned
are etched into your heart.
As a princess you'd like
the world to restart.
You pray for a world with
no suffering or pain.
Just wanting to relive
your childhood again.

Wouldn't we all. Life has a way of dredging the innocence and joy out of us with every small or big event that's doused in the gas of experience we'd rather avoid. Everything was new and wonderous when we were young. But...such is life.

This is relatable and well written. Well done.
