Treadmill

Treadmill

A Poem by chimetime
"

Spoken word poem about personal and real treadmills in life. The pursuits that never end.

"

The word treadmill originates in prison

but limited to the penitentiary it isn't

For many of us, there is always something to do or something to have.

Some are slow, droning and groaning.

Some are fast, confounding and impounding.

[pause 2 seconds]

Knowing more after knowing more.

Earning more after earning more.

But NO MATTER the distance, we are always distant.

BUT consider the world to a treadmill

a mountain to a rock wall

being fulfilled rather being full

a walk on EARTH to a walk on polyurethane

NO COMPARISON, one attains the other chains

I ask you not to stop, but rather see from the top

To enjoying the trail rather chasing your tail

BOLD- Raise voice and slow pace

Italics- Descend voice and slow pace

Spoken word piece. Consider voice control. One line does not work without the voice change.
