I forgive you but will never forget

I forgive you but will never forget

A Poem by J. L. Childers

The stupid neither forgive or forget
The naive forgive and forget
The wise forgive but not forget
So said Thomas Szasz
I take these words within my heart
For I am not stupid or naive

"For the weak never forgive,
It is an attribute of the strong" (Gandhi)
And I am so much stronger than you.
For I stayed true and of pure faith
You were my love, my life, and my joy

No longer
You left, never to return
Never to be the same
Never

So like you, I have found another
To give myself to
Never again to look back
Never to be the same
Never

I hope you are now happy and many blessings to you and yours.

Now, I begin working on my own forgiveness.
