Daphknee's Bolero, Ulysses' Lament

Daphknee's Bolero, Ulysses' Lament

A Poem by chiefdybus

... A diaphanous cloud of ether hung momentarily motionless,
  like a discarded Shop-Rite bag,
lost among determined vehicles on a toll road,
sucked into a temporary vacuum - I gaze into the side view every time,
of course, check the rear view next,
make sure that parasite is not clinging to the undercarriage,
watch it tumble - a yellow acrobatic enigma, beyond definition, an aquatic assassin,
eventually - vanished in the past,
only a crease beside a scar.
  What toll road?
    What vacuum?
      It was not ether,
        it was the ethersphere
exposed when that cloud did creep
             silently on a northeast angle,
                toward the all-encompassing Atlantic.
In it's wake, a slim crescent remained -
Below, a celestial beacon did wink with audacity

        Some expand
            some retreat
                some implode
                    some consume -
with no reservation, we all collide

In a timeless absence, I shiver...
