Leaving Rainbows Behind

Leaving Rainbows Behind

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A short song that I wrote

"

Leaving Rainbows Behind

Never knew that you’d walk out of my life

Before I looked away,

Never thought to say goodbye

Now you’re gone and all I do is cry

But that’s okay…

On cloudy days it rains

That’s when I look out the speeding train

Tears seem to fall as

I watch your back get small

Soon your memory will disappear

Your image won’t seem so tall

Crying won’t be my career

You’ll fade away from the corners of my mind

Leaving rainbows behind

Just thinking about how even the most painful things fade with time. There's always a rainbow close behind.

Some people never see a good thing until it’s gone. Great job well done.

The sun shines brightest after a storm. A wonderful message, and a hard lesson to learn. Your imagery was wonderful, and the whole piece flowed. Great write.

what a wonderful thought..leaving rainbows behind, they say every cloud has a silver lining..maybe time is the lining..and the clouds our lives..

I like the idea of using the train to represent the moving of time. I think it was also a nice touch to use the symbolic promise of the rainbow to show that he would never return to cloud the heart of the speaker again. Also, the last line shows that much color can come out of certain darkness. Well done!

This is sad, but written so beautifully if that makes sense! So true that in time a rainbow will appear!
