Tugboat Annie's

Tugboat Annie's

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A tropical poem

"

-    - Tugboat Annie’s - -

Boats line the rickety piers

All around her cove by the mangroves

With twinkly white lights strung

Above with love

Rasta’s reggae fills the air

With care as her steel drums

Pulsing off-beat casts a

Powerful hex on her decks

Sweet rum runners

Flow freely

Knocking her thirsty

Patrons’ toes-up

With one dixie cup

You and me

Rocking to the beat

Under her full moon

In our bare feet

I need to be with the rum and Annie. Always better to drink with another person. A fun and entertaining poem to read.

Love this! It's a really fun poem and the imagery is strong too. It gives the reader a good sense of place.

Simple, but very descriptive!
I really like that part of this poem!

This is a great poem that I think is one of your best, seriously. I love the fresh feeling to it that makes you feel all cozy inside. I especially love the cute little line: 'With twinkly white lights strung/Above with love'. Since I grew up half my life in the tropics, I love these types of poems that teleport you back home. It was so fun reading this poem!

And No I don't have a foot fetish :0p
