Space Swimmers

A Poem by Marie Harrison

A children's ABC poem

Space Swimmers

Astronauts do the butterfly stroke gracefully through cold navy cubes of Jell-O

Blueberry is the fruity flavor silver suited astronauts taste as they swim

Children look through their telescopes late at night trying to see the space swimmers

Dreaming of miles and miles of blue Jell-O to eat, red cheeked children sleep

Eating blueberry Jell-O gives the satisfied astronauts blue lips and blue tongues

Frightening to see the astronauts smiling at the cameras on the news with mouths of blue

Grinning shades of blue are beautiful to their families as they watch them smile

Your childhood muse came out and brought out the kids in us as we read, loved it!

Haha this was great once I realized how it was structured. Very creative and great use of images, almost like an acid trip at points, but the Jello was an interesting detail to bring into this. Nicely done!

Fantastical and playful. A good children's poem that would have a lot of funny pictures that would bring smiles to many faces

playful and surrealy tilted spinerette above~ there is a such a wonderful~hand clapping element swimming the enchantingly light mood that floats its wonderful umbilicus between the lines!~ a fun and curious little gumdrop of a write!!~

ps:some of the most creative writing happens when we don't think ;)~
