Disassociation

Disassociation

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A fleeting poem

"

Disassociation

Out of my body

__

I’ve disappeared

Because of fear

__

Without a thought

__

I’m out of here

__

Not even I know that I’ve gone

__

Believe me,

The lights are on but no one is home

__

As time goes on,

Leaving is a crutch

__

Now, if I could just stay present

I can definitely feel this one. Although my disassociation is more of a disconnection. Not belonging. But nicely done.

It would be nice to be able to escape at will. Last line made the poem complete. Thank you for a excellent poem.

Ahh, I think I know what you mean here… I've been wanting to write a poem like this for a while, so good job for getting to it before I did, haha!

The 6th stanza is my favorite stanza, and my favorite line is "leaving is a crutch." I didn't get it at first, but now that I do, I think it's a great metaphor.
