Happy Trails In The Sun

Basking in the sun

Reading how the West was won

Filled with gold, cowboys, and guns

Wishing I was the squaw of brave Indian

My life’s just begun

I’m just learning while I’m young

Reading all of the books that I can learn from

Hanging out with friends and having fun

Love has yet to come undone

For now I just use my imagination

Happy trails is the song that is sung

As I ride off into the setting sun

This poem puts the bright future of the optimist on a pedestal.
I love the feeling. It comes from a time where dreams are still
perfectly intact.

Great poem! You nicely explained the simple thoughts roaming through a typical teen's mind.
