Designs For Freedom

Like an ironclad coffin,

his relationship weighted his

rambling feet.

His black inky fingers grew

tiresome of continuously drafting

tedious designs of parking garages,

attending long meetings

and shuffling papers.

His hands longed to touch the smooth olive

curves and silky charcoal hair of

his newest mistress and lose himself

in her warm doe brown eyes.

He was skeptical that he

could continue satisfying his

nagging wife with his plastic

affections and his shrewd

gifts of time for her.

With so little offered to her

how long would she

continue to cling to me

he pondered?

His ambrosial dreams were

to be completely free

of his wife at last,

to sever all ties that

bind them together forever.

No love remained in

his heart for her,

as if she never

existed at all.

If only death could

take her swiftly

away from him.

Happiness and success

would flood him

once she was gone.

She was the

sum of his

failures in life,

the impetus of his

unhappiness.

Superb..wondering what if?

the grass is always greener on the other side until you find yourself standing among the blades and discover they are just as boring as the grass you left. Why is it we hardly ever want what we have? Then there are so many that don't want what they have until they lose it. It seems as if the challenge of obtaining is all the fun there is......Excellent piece.

I'm not quite certain what I should say...other than I really liked it.

The monotony of life can feel like a choke hold on our souls... especially relationships when one person only cares about material possessions. If you work your life away all you have to show for it is things you can't take to heaven with you.

People change all the time and theres nothing you can do to stop it. Its just the way life is. This might sound awful but thats the beauty of life you never know whats going to happen. Sometimes you get hurt and sometimes your over the moon.

Men and woman change. Freedom sometime is not as good as it seem. You create a strong story. Easy to blame someone else for your weakness. I like the artwork. A excellent poem.

Awesome this piece felt really professional, i have nothing to complain about with this good job, great language by the way. is this supposed to be a poem though? cuz it feels more like passage than anything else. cool story too, though the story in itself isnt an original one ( but then again no story is original anymore anyway so so what) . It was a pleasurable read

You know what I like about your poems? That I read them and they make me think. With this one I had a number of questions come up in my mind? Is this me? I hope not. Do I know someone like this? Probably, no, make that definitely. How can this happen? I guess there are a number of ways. What about her? Is it her fault? Probably not. How can this be fixed? Can this be fixed? Should this be fixed?

All from your one poem. Excellent, as always, Marie.
