January's Gale

January’s Gale

Stray winter leaves

On the trees

Whisper as they

Blow in the breeze

Don’t leave

Please, don’t leave!

As January’s

Gale groans

Her hollow moan

The witch’s lone

Black cat scatters

As I travel home

While the Sun’s

Descent begins

She nods at me, she grins

For she’ll lead my whipped body

To my road’s end

I actually was hiking Saturday at a park close to where I live. The wind was blowing and I noticed the brown stray leaves blowing in the wind. Made me think of this poem. Funny the places you find inspiration in, I was just walking around in a bunch of dead leaves with the wind blowing.

I like the imagery of this piece, very expressive of your surroundings; Painted me a nice picture of you walking home. Better hurry the sun fades quick, and tighten that scarf, you will catch cold. I am still looking forward to your sonnet. Send me a message when you've finished it. I think you will like the challenge of pieces like that. At least I do.

Nice Write!

Simple sights often inspire and the words here create a picture we can recognise, and a message that tells a story

This was great. I liked the descriptions a lot and I felt such strong nature elements that could hold close to human emotion, very Robert Frost-esque. Nice write.
