Full Cup

Full Cup

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A bountiful life

"

Full Cup

Bountiful magenta wine of life

Pours freely from my pitcher

Bubbly

            Full of fizz

                                At times

When flat tastes good with rye

Soon this pitcher will empty

What will become of me

Shall I sail out to the sea

Where my soul will

Run free

Just a thought I had the other day. It's a simple thought but I had to share it. What do you think?

A simple thought perhaps but one that we all think about.
I like the read of it, smooth and it does have the classic and to me classical feel ..
I love the line ' at times when flat tastes good with rye.
Like life, sometimes it is overflowing and a bubbling fizz, other times, tasteless and flat. A good metaphor. I like this 'simple' poem of yours.

hmmm it leaves a very classic feeling when reading... idk if that makes sense but it does to me :P

the only thing i think that could be fixed is the format. i think it should be the same color, size, and font but it should all be together. like when the words flow out to the side, i think it should be pushed back to the left with all the other words. i dont know, i just think of wine being classy and formal. and that kind of makes the classic feeling of the poem(: good poem!

Fantastic...and I love me some wine to boot. The brilliant thing is the choices this exposes and the pallette that we have to paint our lives with. Ten minutes of this feeling will get me through ten days of work and worry. Great writing.

This is a wonderful write here.
I really enjoyed this.
It's interesting and to the point of being free.
Well done!!

Reminded me of Emily Dickinson's own description of herself:

"My hair is bold like the chestnut burr; and my eyes, like the sherry in the glass that the guest leaves."

A sit-back read. And a good mood-booster :)

Keep writing.

sure was great writing here! i do agree that last stanza was the best in this poem. such a surreal fantasy you have woven here.
"Soon this pitcher will empty

What will become of me

Shall I sail out to the sea

Where my soul will

Run free"

I like the last stanza in this poem. The question at the end is one of those open ended ones and I like that. Love the color you picked for this piece.
