Loves Bitter Tale

Loves Bitter Tale

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A salty dog lover's sea tale

"

- Love’s Bitter tale -

Love’s grown icy,

Bold As a northern

seas Mighty gale

Lover’s sweet tales

Have long since sailed

Where hot raging fires

Once danced and devoured

Dense, hearty wood

Only an empty charred

Pit remains

Bittersweet dreams

Of yesterday haunt and seize

At crack of dawn

Gentle tears roll and flow

As violent sobs are drawn

Holding Back

A tumultuous

Flood of emotions

That Her fragile

levee contains

Till morning bluebird

Sings her Ginger

morning dew song

Lifeless lovers

Repressing the

Passing of

A passion

That has

Since passed

Along

Leaving hearts flaccid

And bodies

Too frigid to hold

At Last

Their love has

Grown cold

I agree with heather down there. This was a cold poem. Your emotions are painfully clarified and you have bottled them up in neat imagery as well. I can almost picture the dead, extinguished fireplace that was once very warming and crackling with life. Thank you for sharing this piece of truth with us, where love is lost among spirits and flesh.

Well done. A very sad an emotional tale of love becoming a fading memory, giving way to a barrier of cold.

That giant font is a little too intense, but that's just an aesthetic complaint from me. I understand the message completely; I, too, have felt a passionate love cool off, and I'm sure everyone else has.

I like how you told this story in the poem. When love begin to fade. Can open doors to disappointment. A strong poem with a sad ending. A excellent poem.
