BEAST
A Poem by
Marie Harrison
A savage being
BEAST
Tear my flesh
Eat me whole
Chew me into little bites
Let me drown
In your black hole
Acid burns me like ice
Absorb me in your system
Because I’m under your nails
I run through your blood
I make your blood pump
I’m your reason for living
I’m under your skin
There’s no way you’ll win
I’m your beast

Amazing revelations.
You could make a dark, but beautiful song.

"The beasts of burdens," I do have mine. Although at the time of consumption they seem more like medication soothing my afflictions. I guess it is true what they say, "The first sign of addiction is denial." I think this piece describes how ones addictions are perceived when they are realized by the problems they produce rather than sooth. Quitting is the beast, and only the strong survive.
Great Write!

The demons of the past can grow larger then life when not dealt with... straight up raw writing.

Yes, yes, yes, I know the feeling; it's exactly what I feel when I visit the casino. This is a very real reminder of the Self when we lose when we give in to a destructive craving (as I sit here, smoking a Djarum Black). Well said, Marie.

I can sort of relate to this! I'm not an addict to drugs or boozs, but writing I am! Great poem!
