BEAST

Tear my flesh

Eat me whole

Chew me into little bites

Let me drown

In your black hole

Acid burns me like ice

Absorb me in your system

Because I’m under your nails

I run through your blood

I make your blood pump

I’m your reason for living

I’m under your skin

There’s no way you’ll win

I’m your beast

A great piece about the all consuming nature of addiction. It truly is a beast that possess you, taking the place of everything you held dear.

I liked the poem, and your explanation made it even better. Although, I agree that it lacks emotion. But maybe you didn't mean for it to show emotion? I don't know..
I'm not that good at writing poems. But Good Job. :)

Oh well...u aren't very good at conveying things through poems (or i dun get them:P). If I hadn't read the explanation, I would've thought you an excessively conceited lover.:D

SOUL LESS.

Addiction is indeed a controlling beast - addiction of any kind. You captured that so very well in your work here. It does chew up the addict's life and those of everyone around them - such a sad blight on humanity it is...

I quite liked this, actually. With relatively few words, this piece makes quite a powerful impression on the reader. The use of "beast" in this poem, made me think of the bestial or uncontrollable moments which take hold of so many people in modern society. Interestingly, the principle of control is also expressed in this piece - in terms of the protagonist fearing that the "beast" of addiction will either control or dominate her? Even so, there are some people who like to live that way (for various reasons). However, the main form of addiction in this piece seems to be of a drug (in view of the rather biological or clinical types of symptons which are mentioned by the writer? Thankyou Marie - keep writing!
