Life Unexpected

A poem about life.

(Life Unexpected)

Life is rich

Yet light and airy

It’s bald and raw

But hairy and scary

Life runs smooth like a river

It jars my neck as it

Crashes down the mountain

Life is expected

But full of surprises

Life is free to enjoy

But death is the

Ultimate price to pay

Life is here

Life is at death’s door

Then it’s here no more

Life is me

Until I’m free

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
Just thinking about the broad spectrums of life. How there are so many different perspectives of life and death. How they change and convert so suddenly but so in such a subtle way too. Life is a mystery often.

What an exceptional poem of your experience of life, where it brings you, what you hope for...such depth.

so true; so much depth and variety in life and thoughts on death...

A good Author's Note, and a quite meaningful poem! Although not from a Christian perspective, there is nothing in this poem to challenge my real-life experiences from the past. The writer has used some lines which contradict others, as she emphasises how our lives are filled with (and shaped by) contrasting events and situations. Although not particularly special as a poem, this is certainly direct, open and from the heart! Thankyou, for sharing a few philosophical observations using this relatively simple poem!
