Tree

Each day is decay

Leaves shrivel and fall away

My arms are stark and bare

Death is dancing in the air

To pain life slaves

Through the seasons I stand brave

Hear the wind whisper he doesn’t care

The bounty of the earth’s

Harvest on my back tears

Noticing the stark trees today. I love them without their leaves. Changes the mood of the landscaping.

nice work on trees.

If this poem didn't have your author's note and picture, I would think that it wasn't about trees, and instead about someone's feelings being personified to a tree. You've wrote a poem with 2 different meanings without realising. I've favourited it.

I love trees with or without leaves. Even dead trees have a stark beauty. Wonderful poem!

Quite beautiful, this was almost lyrical...like rustling branches in a warm, summers breeze. I enjoyed this, well done.

Firstly, it was interesting to read the writer's main source of inspiration for this piece (see her Author's Note). Well, I also love nature's natural beauty. This poem seems to recognise that nature can also be strong and durable (as in the case of trees as the writer suggests). I also agree with the writer's observation, that the "mood" of a landscape can be significantly changed - once we have an opportunity to see trees without their leaves. Personally, I regard this as less pleasing on the eye. On the otherhand, who am I to question any aspect of nature's pattern or what brings it about? Thankyou Marie, for sharing another interesting piece of writing with us!
