On Ice

The slick uncertainty of ice

Not knowing how to throw the dice

To turn into the spin                  or tap the brakes

Fishtail and        hope for the best is all it takes

                     When the donut time comes

                                  My heart double thumps

           What a mess it makes!

But times like that are so fun

                    You hope it happens twice

Life is pins and needles

When you tap dance on the ice.

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
Tonight I had to drive on black ice. I didn't have problems until I got into my apartment complex parking lot. That's when the fun began. There were cars every where, kids and people walking around. My car was fishtailing and skidding. I was scared to death but excited at the same time. Made me want to go do donuts in a safer and desolate parking lot like I used to like to do. I live on a huge hill, it was really difficult for me to get into my tight parking space. I barely made it in. Tomorrow I'll try to jog on it! Ha!

It snows in GA??? Probably about as rare as in CA, although I have seen it 4 times. Great telling of a story in poetic terms. I bet a cop would like to "do donuts" too (with a slide {I mean a side} of coffee) :-O

This is a great observation only one who has tried and succeeded can look back at conquering the fear living on the adrenalin oh to be young again

No doubt love is like driving on ice but what a rush... I love the metaphoric images.

Hehe, reminds me of a time I almost lost control of my vehicle on some ice. It was really awesome. I felt like I should've been in Fast and Furious or something. This poem was fun, to say the least, Marie Harrison. Nice.
