On Ice

The slick uncertainty of ice

Not knowing how to throw the dice

To turn into the spin                  or tap the brakes

Fishtail and        hope for the best is all it takes

                     When the donut time comes

                                  My heart double thumps

           What a mess it makes!

But times like that are so fun

                    You hope it happens twice

Life is pins and needles

When you tap dance on the ice.

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
Tonight I had to drive on black ice. I didn't have problems until I got into my apartment complex parking lot. That's when the fun began. There were cars every where, kids and people walking around. My car was fishtailing and skidding. I was scared to death but excited at the same time. Made me want to go do donuts in a safer and desolate parking lot like I used to like to do. I live on a huge hill, it was really difficult for me to get into my tight parking space. I barely made it in. Tomorrow I'll try to jog on it! Ha!

What a fun read, from one who tends to like to tap the brakes on the ice just to see what happens...

Sounds scary and too much excitement, I hate sliding on black ice. Great poem, I can see where it would be fun and exciting.

Not ME! I'll drive in it only if it is absolutely necessary. Too many curves and ravines and deep ditches in this area. Gives me a excuse to stay home and visit the animals, spin or knit lol

You be careful, Young Lady! I do feel that wonderful mixture of fright and exhilaration, and remember well the parking lot donut hysteria!! So fun this is!
