His Garden

His Garden

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A botanical poem.

"

His Garden

Thistles prick and tear at my skin

Trying to escape to a safe protective den

Who knows what darkness hides within

Nothing is safe in his garden

There are other gardens too, where all is peaceful and warm, where the bushes provide shelter and where the moss is soft where the stream flows...

I really liked the last line, very gripping indeed, this kind of makes me think of like a little poem you'd see at the beginning of a book, you know? Very well done, I loved it, great job!~

At first I thought this was about God, but after reading it over, I see someone who feels they must run and hide, who needs to be protected from the unknown, or maybe someone known to you, whom you feel has done you wrong. The last line,
"Nothing is safe in his garden" is a very powerful statement.
