Bitter Winter Winds

Cold blistery wind chills me

Winter jabs her icy knife into my ribs

Her strength and determination to defeat me is strong

She blows and blows…trying to deter me

Numb and icy are my fingers as my lips turn blue

Yet I lean into her winds, with all my might I carry on

I persue my destination and curse her as I do

She’s a frigid b***h and I won’t let her win

Even if I have to sin to beat her

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
I have to admit, I hate being cold all over. I used to hate the frigid winter wind that was like knives going through me. It's not as cold where I live now. The icy winds go to me more than anything. I don't miss them at all.

This was a chilling peice, lol, the cold winter winds, I don't miss them either.. I remember when I was a little girl walking to the bus stop everymorning, my hair would freeze on the way, I thought is was the coolest thing, but as I got older, the cold became peircing. This was an awesome write..

Sounds like winter in my part of the country! What great feeling this has - I actually shivered when reading it! Then of course, we can bring this to the metaphor of cold stabbing through us..

Whilst reading this piece, I was reminded of a struggle against the cold wind. Indeed, a battle between two opposing forces - one human and the other being nature herself! Certainly, a very seasonal (if short) poem. Thankyou, Marie! I wonder what this writer will select, as the theme for her next poem?

I agree 100%! The cold is quite the cruel lady. A very apt poem for the season. Winter is one of those seasons I think we'd all love to beat somehow.
