No One Told Me

A cement block is tied to my heart

Most days I need a running start

At night my voice carries like a lark

Death’s arrow has hit its mark

My life is so dark

This side of the ocean is full of sharks

Some days I feel like such a tart

I used to be my Dad's sweetheart

No one told me life would be so hard.

Unfortunately we all have to find out how hard life is on our own. No one wants to tell us. Great write.

no one could have...how could they?

I agree with Linear, your meter with this is very good...flows like water. Water like the tears you shed as you grow older and realize that the dear relationships you once had aren't made of strong bonds...but of loose strands that break easily...."I used to by my Dad's sweetheart"

Very good!

no one told me either....isn't it funny how we are painted a perfect world when we are children...i guess they were letting us live in bliss
