The Color Of A Man's Character

The Color Of A Man's Character

A Poem by Marie Harrison

A poem of character.

The Color of a Man’s Character

We all bleed

And cleave to

Those we leave

We all smile when we are greeted

And cry when we are mistreated

Why do we choose to abuse others

For the color of their skin?

Why do we think that only

Our own color should win?

We’re all the same underneath

We all deserve peace

When we lay down to sleep

Love one another while you can

Show your son how to be gracious

The color of a man’s character

Is how he treats his fellow Man.

The words you've easily managed to keep in a beautiful flow and rhymes are a universal, powerful truth. And I thought the picture you've chosen was strange in a captivating way. I loved this poem. 100/100. Thank you so much, Marie. Keep writing.

Now, this is well said... A lesson we 'haters' in this world need to be reminded of, again and again. There never is enough time; why waste it on hating. Very well done, Ms. Harrison. Now...I'm really going to go to sleep... We'll see how this plays out in our dreams.
