Sculpture

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about women.

"

Sculpture

Rounded, molded

Sculpted by God’s hands

Not made for the benefit

Of the hands of every man

You can look

But touches

Are not allowed

For I’m a treasure gem

Not a bruised piece of fruit

Striking image.

The text summons a lot of contradictory impressions. Too many for me to delineate here.

But the sentiment of existing physically as/for oneself over another's objectification, amen.

Now there's a poem after my heart - to be seen as complete beings to be treasured, as every woman, every human, for that matter, should!

Excellent, Sistah!
