The Climb

The Climb

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about a view.

"

The Climb

Up and up we

Climb up the spiral

Staircase.

Each step you take

You curse my

Namesake

Each step I take

Each Moment

I wish someone

Else could

Take my place

When we get

To the top

Look out

At the vista

Watching the ocean

Lick the sugar sand

Coastline

Nothing but

Peace is

On your face.

Climbing the

Lighthouse Was

Not a waste.

A scene like that is always worth the trip.

I'll never go on a trip with my mother in-law...ever...unless she's paying, that is...and that trip is to japan...and she leaves me alone the entire trip... She's cool as long as we don't stay around each other for extended periods. What to make of this, then... She got over it? Nice how a scene made of serenity can change people's minds. Great work.
