A very uplifting and inspiring poem with a touch of sadness in it too.
There isn't very much said about this in the media or elsewhere but men get breast cancer too, it's just a lot harder for them to go get checked if they have a lump, I guess we can understand why.
And yet she was the winner the minute she stepped on that track. in that race, all are winners. standing up for another is the greatest thing we as a people can do, and if but once a year we follow our hearts, then at least it is once. would that more would remain standing throughout the year, but once at least is enough.
great poem, my mother had the disease and is fully recovered but nothing can prepare you for the trauma of this situation...well written and beautiful sentiment. hope you friend has recovered.
I really like this story, how she is determined to win this race and fights hard to do so, putting a lot of effort into it and her inspiration is her mother who suffered from breast cancer. This is a positive story all the way through.

Great Poem!
It's always hard to accept when your got cancer, right? You will worry, hope there's anything working in the wrong place.
I can think of what you think.
I can understand that just being around someone in that condition can inspire writing. The same thing happened with me and my grandfather. You have captured the feelings so well in this poem. Thank you foar sharing this with us.
