Katherine

My sweet

Angelic friend,

You held my hand when

I needed a caring

Warm hand to hold.

You taught me

How to be bold

When ugly things

You are told

About your

Soulmold.

How frightful

I was when you

Told me you may

Have to go away.

That cancer had

Invaded your

Shapely flesh

Chest.

How I prayed for

You day and night.

I can’t imagine

My life without

You in it guiding

Me through my

Dark tunnel,

Towards the

Shining light.

Now you rage

Against this

Terrible plight,

Spreading your

Bright pink ribbons

And encouragement

To everyone.

Letting women

Know how much

You care and

That you’re

Aware of their

Breast scare.

What a bright

Day it is that

You’re here to

Dare to live

Another day,

Spreading your

Mystical ways.

How lucky we are

To have you with

Us longer as

The world sways.

What a lovely expression of devotion and deep, sincere care.

my mother died of this disease when i was a teenager, so it's very close to who i am. and she got it when she was very young and fought it for a very long time. i find very interesting in this piece the way in which each stanza serves not only as a moving tribute to your brave friend, who has used this terrible plight to give hope to others....but also a meditation upon the ways in which this disease affects not only those afflicted, but all who love them, in deep and profound ways.

Awesome writing in support of your friend. What a terrible disease to fight against I really hope she pulls through and anyone else who fights this or any other disease. You end it with a deep appreciation and love for her so spirited. While it's sad.. this writing was very nice and you are a very good friend which shines through!
