Autumn's Mountain Dreams

Autumn's Mountain Dreams

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about summer giving way to fal and fall preparing for winter.

"

Autumn’s Mountain Dreams

When the gales are stirring and the

branches are rustling their pompoms,

The lonely white spotted owl is calling

out his desperate call for his mate

That’s when the mugs come out to fill with

steaming hot chocolate

with white marshmallows,

When the sun goes down too soon and

the moon stays out too late.

As the leaves start to fall to the

ground and fall into the soupy ponds

The green eager turtle sloths out onto

his branch early to catch the

sunbeams that are late.

That’s when all the girls start wearing

lettered sweaters of their fellows.

When the basketball team attempts

to go all the way to state!

When the weeping willow starts blowing in

the breeze and the wood nymph’s

wave their magic wands,

That’s the time the gas companies send

notices that there are raising their rates.

When the temperatures drop and the fields

full of black and white Jersey cows start to bellow,

That’s when you know the time for

swim bikini time is far too late.

So bring out the violin and the harmonica too,

we’ll share some warm apple cider and

sing some mountain clogging songs.

Warm memories blue crystal winter

dreams we’ll start to create.

We’ll gaze fondly at the days of summer

when we all skipped around bathed in

yellow eating lime green jello.

Because autumn is finally here,

we’ll hold hands and snuggle under cozy

flannel quilts at the football games with our dates.

Nice. I see you took artistic license in this part lol

When the temperatures drop and the fields
full of black and white Jersey cows start to bellow,

Holsteins are black and white, Jersey's are a reddish brown :P

This is very beautiful and I think there is something very beautiful about fall. I'm glad I live in a place where you can tell when the seasons change. Love this. It really is a beautiful positive memory.
