Moon Drops
A Poem by Marie Harrison
A fantasy poem about the moon for children.
Moon Drops
Mr. Moon,
Why do you
Wink at me?
Don't you know it's
Only noon.
It's too soon
To crawl in my
Cocoon to go
To sleep.
I need to fish,
I need to eat,
I need to play
In the lagoon
With the other
Raccoons.
Why are you always
Winking at me
Mr. Moon?
Or is there
A moon drop
In your eye?
Maybe celestial
Beings get
The blues
Too?
Are you lonesome
For someone to swoon
With, Mr. Moon?

I think writing for children is not an easy task. You've managed here to compose a flowing, playful, yet deep piece of writing. Thank you for sharing.

I love the way you put the pictures at the beginning of the poem. It's like a sneak-peek at a new movie everyone is wanting to see....

Lovely little read, Marie. But I can't help to wonder if the last question was just rhetorical ;P
