![]() Fade To BlackA Poem by Marie Harrison![]() A poem about domestic violence.![]() Fade To Black Someone’s slapping, Punching and hitting Me all over my body, My legs, my stomach, My arms and my butt. Salty tears are Running down My cheeks but I’m not crying. I’m screaming Instead. Their nails are scratching And clawing me all over My face, my arms and legs, But I can’t feel a thing Because I’m numb all over. I have no feeling at all! My heart is racing And the sounds of Voices yelling in My ears are muffled And fading. My ears are hot And burning. Someone’s rapping On my head with A sharp high Heel shoe, But I’m not Letting them in. It’s as if I’m Watching this From a plush Theatre seat Up above Minus the Popcorn and soda. Someone that Looks like me Is getting a Severe beating Down below by Those she loves The most. Poor thing. Oh I wish There was Something I Could do For her. But I’ve got No ideas, She’s trapped In this lifestyle. Fade to black.
