A poem about sell organs illegally.

 

Organs Illegally Sold

Their bodies were old

And told they wouldn’t live long,

But really their organs were fine.

Their relatives forgot them and

Left them behind.

 

Secretly they were put to sleep

In the middle of the night.

The sight of their eyeballs and

Parts being removed and sold

For the use of others is just

Horrendous to the American nurses

But that’s what America voted for.

 

Government healthcare coverage

Is what they all shared in common,

No one cared what happened

To them and the government

Made a fortune selling their

Body parts to the Chinese government

For financial debts unpaid.

 

We’ve sold out by selling

Our souls to the red and gold.

This subject is a staple of cyberpunk, w/its emphasis on present and future black markets. I wrote about it too; the text is buried in my old computer, former website content. Don't know exactly where the market for illegal organs stands right now, but I'm sure some of it is going on.

The idea of rushing the process w/disposable oldies w/useful organs is certainly ghoulish enough. Linking it to gov't healthcare is more ghoulish still. Alas, the U.S. is far more horrorshow about the latter issue, fact and fiction, than the more humanistic Canada and UK.

And then the coup de gras: selling to China. Well, ya know the entire corporatist globalization sweep has been amounting to an Invasion of the Body Snatchers anyway. Hearts, minds, souls, bodies infected w/the most insidious fascistic form of capitalism.

Shell game organ swapping is small potatoes next to entire populations stolen by The Matrix. Thanks for the ghoulish thought-provoking, though. ;-)

World is out of control. In my lifetime. I saw less concern for the people and more concern for big business. Government baled out banks and Auto companies. How about the 100,000 business who closed down and no-one cared? Poem may be a real story ASAP. China loans are very large and the USA is in big trouble. Thank you for your poetry. Always a reason and the words make me think.

I saw a documentary of poor mothers in India willingly, yes WILLINGLY selling their organs so that their children could go to school or have food for 2 weeks, yes, 2 WEEKS. The whole documentary had about 75% of mothers crying.

Life is harsh like that.
