Whiskey KissA Poem by Marie HarrisonA love poem
“Whiskey Kiss” I taste your whiskey kiss on my Lips and I smell the scent of your olive skin. I recognize the familiar Warm and snug embrace Of your strong arms around My curvy hips and my Sleep is deeper on nights That play out like this. It’s your laughter and big smile That I remember most often and It’s your gentle companionship That I miss the most. But my love for you was Not enough for both of us. Your love for me was sweet As almond honey to my Lips but too weak to survive a lifetime. For now your arms embrace Another. It’s bittersweet for me to Linger in these memories Of your love. It makes me blue to admit This but it’s time for me To part with them. I must let go Of you now. I vow that love for you shall No longer grow In my heart anymore. I’ll need to make Room for the future Love for a heart that Is true and baby That’s not you!
