Memories of a former love.

I Believed In Love Once

Going up the coastline in the fall

Was all we could dream about

All summer as we saved for our trip,

We knew we’d have a ball once we went.

Walking on the beaches,

Kicking the sand

With our bare feet,

Running in the ocean.

Splashing around for

Relief from the heat.

I heard love in your laughter

I saw the gleeful smile on your face

I saw the shine of your eyes when

You saw me in black lace.

Your face of happiness was all

That I needed to see,

I believed in love once,

I saw love when

I looked at your face.

Really liked this piece... the subtle rhymes really tighten up the poem and pull it up together. Nice write.
