Dear John

Dear John

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A letter to a man.

"

Dear John,

You were my best friend

Until the end when you

Stabbed me in the back.

For years I slept next to you

Now I refuse to even stand

Next to you.

You put a gun to my

Chest and made a

Wreck out of my life.

I was lucky to escape

Away from you alive.

You’re a monster to me now.

You don’t deserve to

Even know me,

Much less be my best

Friend.

When you look my way,

Take a good look at what

You threw away like refuse.

When you feel used in

Life, remember me because

That’s how you treated me.

You are the star antagonist

Of my worst days,

Only the best days of my

Life lie in front of me

And all of them will

Be without you!

Sincerely,

Marie
