Aquamarine

Aquamarine

A Poem by Marie Harrison

A poem about color.

AQUAMARINE

Aquamarine is my color,

Most days it matches the

Blue hue of my eyes.

As a girl,

My birthday present

Was something the color

Of you, Aquamarine.

Still feel like an angel

With magical wings,

Whenever I wear

Your shimmery shade

Of summer blue

That matches the

Energy of

My youth

Long ago.

Aquamarine,

You bring out the

Sun’s brightest lights

That runs through

My hair.

Your wavy hue of

The swimming pool,

Reminds me of all the

Flirty summer fun of

Popping towels at

At the pool all day.

Or jumping in for an

Icy dip at swim

Practice after school.

I can still smell the

Strong chlorine.

I'm so glad

That you

Happened to be

My birthstone too,

Aquamarine.

Even if I had

Been born in

Another month,

I'd still choose

You as my

Favorite

Jewel.

This may be bout color but I think it has a hidden meaning bout fate and a delightfully melancholy feel of reminiscing. I throughly enjoyed this.
