Cows In A Row

Cows In A Row

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A humorous bovine account.

"
Cows In A Row

Fog rises from the tumbling foothills of the Smokies,
as our car rests on the shoulder of the road.
I stand at a vigil, while taking a lesson,
for future use if ever I have this accident by myself.

A herd of spotted black and white Jersey cows
stand in a row watching, as my flavor of the day,
boyfriend changes his flat tire.
His last name happens to be Cowie.

One by one, they each moo at him,
as he completes each step of this life and
death process of changing a flat tire.

While he slowly verbally instructs me in his
most assertive drill seargent voice,
watching them closely observe him,
I start to wonder, could it be they
are cheering him on?

I smile and can't help but softly giggle at his
captive bovine audience. They appear to be
earnestly watching, as if taking lessons too.
I roll my eyes with guilt, because they are
the only one's listening to the instructor.

very fun, its a good pick me up from other poems i have read on Writers cafe. you had very steady word choice, the more syllables, the better it sounds :P
this was a witty fun poem, i very much enjoyed it :D

Amusing. Like Rock 'n' Roll Cowboy noted, it's like a Far Side cartoon. Cows taking remote lessons on tire-changing from a guy named Cowie. Droll.

Much like a prose. But yes, you made me smile too. :)

This was funny and entertaining... it's like a "Far Side" cartoon in poetic form.

I like this, this is really cute. I'm sure the cows really did find you both very interesting, wondering what you were doing there instead of passing on by in the car like everyone else!
