Colors That Lift My Spirits

Colors That Lift My Spirits

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

This is a color poem that I wrote. Sometimes counting the various things that we enjoy in life can lift our spirits and shift our perspective on life. I suppose it was a defining moment for me.

"

Colors That Lift My Spirits

Orange are the tiger lilies that grow in the fields where I play.

Yellow is the banana taffy that fills my hungry mouth.

Brown are the tiny ants that invade my picnic.

Red is the lipstick on my pouty lips.

Maroon are the jerseys on the men that I watch.

Blue is the sky they throw their football through.

Black is grill that my sizzling burgers cook on.

Silver is the aluminum beer can in my hand.

Grey are the days that I sing the blues.

White is my halo that hovers over my head.

Gone are the days that I wished I was dead.

A poem about how colors lift my spirit. This poem was pivotal to me. Because of this poem I decided not to end my life.

I like the images you create using words and colors, however, i think it is the last line of the poem that truly makes this a special piece! I read this poem multiple times because of the last line!
