Chump ChangeA Poem by Marie Harrisonyou shred me into little strips of pink litmus paper only to piss on me over and over you rip me into little squares only to wipe your bum and flush me out to the gutter of the world you sneeze into me and wipe your nose clean before you dispose of me into the windy streets of some American city I'll break your heart don't you know you'll never find another girl like me I'll be hard to replace not just the look of my face or the feel of my body but the generosity of my heart the free flow of my spirit laughing in the wind you miss my voice already I know because your eyes recognized it instantly I feel them whenever they look at me the best of you I've had your best days were mine they are treasures I hold close to my beating heart I gave all that I had to give holding nothing back I gave freely of my own will you held back out of fear only chump change did you give to me chump change that won't be hard to replace imagine my face when I feel real love shower over me like the hot springs we used to visit goodbye chump change hope some other fool enjoys settling for less © 2010 Marie HarrisonFeatured Review
