Of Night LiliesA Poem by circesummerThe stars
are night lilies, Plucked by
a little girl with rosebuds in her hair, And summer
in her eyes. And thrown
up to domes of the heavens, Paradise, Arcadia Elysium Summerland. June’s moon
is a gondola, A silver
smile in the sky, As it sails
to forever, Sighing
endless songs, Songs that
murmur, lull and dip The
whispers of fading lullaby. The ocean
unfurls her cobalt petals and holds my vessel close Perhaps I
could slumber in this cradle mine Let the
waves wash me away Sleep...sleep When I close
my eyes, I can feel
the stars all around me I can see
the midnight sky beneath, I want to
reach down and pluck up One of
those night lilies But those lilies,
those wishes So delicate
and fragile, they Shatter And break Through my hands.
And they
fly Fly...fly... The stars,
they fly, Across the arches
of that dreamworld, Up there,
up high; I’ll never
truly awake when I step away from my little ship And let the
rosebuds fall from my hair, But to
catch a lily, a wish And hold it
to my heart - I must, Step onto
the silver smile of June, And sing to
summer lullabies again. Let the
gondola moon that soars to my stars, Soar me to
my Shangri-la. © 2012 circesummerAuthor's Note
